Lewis Smith meets Isami Ao during the battle in Hawaii. Seeing Isami's combat skill, Smith challenges him to a duel. However, they abruptly fall attack by unknown enemy when the day comes.

The commanders of each nation convene to discuss about the Bravern. Meanwhile, Isami, who was forced to pilot Bravern, is suspected of being a spy. Amid the confusion, a new foe approaches…

#3 The Hidden Boss is Summoned to the Castle

Dejected after Bravern's rejection, Lewis goes for a walk along the beach and there happens upon a strange girl and decides to take her in. At the same time, a new multinational Allied Task Force (ATF) is formed, beginning the battle to liberate Earth.

#4 The Hidden Boss Participates in Field Training

Having liberated Hawaii, the ATF now sets their sights on Japan. While other personnel busy themselves preparing for the upcoming operation, Lewis is ordered to keep an eye on the mysterious girl Lulu.

#5 The Hidden Boss has Someone to Talk to

With one week left until Operation Uprising, the liberation of Japan, the ATF fleet makes its voyage across the Pacific. Luckily, Bravern has some sage advice to offer.

#6 The Hidden Boss Participates in the Tournament

Isami, Bravern, and Lewis drop down in Japan ahead of the others to search for survivors. Despite the bleak situation, Isami refuses to give up, and as if to respond to his unyielding resolve, a new power awakens within Bravern.

Deathdrives join the fray, and are met in battle by Isami and Bravern. Lewis barely manages to subdue Superbia for a time, but his TS is destroyed in the process, leaving his life in grave danger.

#8 The Hidden Boss Meets a Dragon

Lewis is named leader of the Brave Knights, a new TS unit formed to act as a covering force for Bravern. Supportive both on and off the battlefield, he offers encouragement to an uncertain Isami, and they vow to save the world together.

#9 The Hidden Boss is Recruited by an Enemy Kingdom

Isami receives word that Lewis was killed in action. Blinded by grief and rage, he ignores Bravern's warnings and throws himself into a losing battle against Vanitas and Pessimism.

#10 The Hidden Boss Goes Dungeon Crawling

Lulu attempts to pilot Superbia, who she calls "Uncle." She pleads that his powers are necessary to save Isami and Bravern, but Superbia is unmoved and refuses to let her in.

#11 The Hidden Boss is Confessed to

Isami and friends make for Hawaii, where the three remaining Deathdrives await. Their newest companion, Superbia, provides valuable intel on the foes they must face.

#12 The Hidden Boss Fights the Demon Lord

Isami loses Bravern, and with him the will to live. Death creeps closer. But although he's given up on becoming a hero, he hasn't given up on living. Isami rises once more. Behold true bravery.
